WE NEED YOUR HELP

Did you know we ask each PAMP member to give two hours of volunteer service back to the club? Please check our volunteer section for all of the opportunies within our club!

Events

To view upcoming PAMP events please check out our calendar at:

https://www.bigtent.com/group/calendar

Below is a detailed description of some of our main events.

Active Science
Active Science is an almost-monthly event sponsored by the club. It is designed to enrich the lives of parents and small children by giving them an opportunity to explore the world around us. Each event has it's own age range that it's appropriate for. All the materials and instructions are supplied. Each parent or caregiver is responsible for supervising and helping their own child during the event.

Active Arts
Active Arts is a monthly event sponsored by the club. It is a free hour of art projects designed for ages 2-5. All the materials and instructions are supplied. Each parent or caregiver is responsible for supervising and helping their own child with the project.

In the warmer months, Active Arts meets at the Rinconada Park toddler area in Palo Alto. In cooler weather, it meets at various indoor locations including the Peers Park Field House in Palo Alto . The skills that are involved in the art projects range from painting to gluing and pasting to making rubbings and using stamps, among other things. While the projects will likely produce a take-home item, the emphasis will be on the process rather than the product. Come dressed for mess!

Babysitting Co-op
A great program!

Blanket Babies
Spit up on your shirt? Hair unwashed? Bags under your eyes? And/or nursing and leaking? You’re in the right group! Bring yourself and your pre-crawler to Blanket Babies and visit with others in your happy state.

Blanket Babies is designed for moms or dads with young babies. We meet informally every week to enjoy a morning out with other "new" parents to relax, share stories, and enjoy some adult company. A host is there for at least an hour and half, but the group often stays longer. Feel free to stop by just once or join us every week. All are invited!

This program also hopes to provide a transition for new members and members of the pregnant mothers group, with many graduating into new playgroups as blankets are outgrown!

Community Outreach
Throughout the year the Community Outreach Team organizes events to help those in need, through volunteer participation, fundraising, and drives for in-kind donations such as food, clothing, toys, etc. Some events focus on activities that involve children, as a learning experience for kids to understand the nature of giving and looking out for others. Other events focus on providing needed donations and funds to organizations that benefit children and families locally, nationally, or globally. By working together to help others, we strengthen our own community ties, form lasting friendships, and teach our children that the best gifts come directly from the heart.

Preschool Fair
The PAMP annual Preschool Fair provides an opportunity for local parents in the community (members and non-members of PAMP) to "Shop" and educate themselves on the many choices of excellent Preschools in our area. Parents get to meet representatives from local Preschools and attend a Speaker Workshop on "How to Choose a Preschool".

The Fair allows parents to educate themselves on the various philosophies that are used in preschools (Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia/Play-based, Relationship-based (PITC), cooperative, faith based, etc) as well as an opportunity to find out information about specific schools in their neighborhood. In addition, this year we hope to have a section promoting language immersion preschools.

We expect to have in the range of 50 preschools attending. The cities of Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Mountain View and Los Altos will be well represented, as well as some representative schools from the surrounding cities.

We expect to draw over 200 attendees.

The fair is free for members, and is $5 for non-member families (or free if they join on the day).

General Meetings
The Parents' Club hosts a monthly speaker or a panel of experts who present information on parenting young children. Topics include health and safety, cognitive and physical development, socialization, education and parenting strategies.

The first 15 minutes of the meeting is usually spent socializing, with speakers beginning at 7:00 pm . The date, time and location of the meetings are subject to change, with prior notice to the e-mail list or by announcement in the PAMP Newsletter.

Meetings are adults-only events, so we request that children be left at home. You may bring quiet infants who won't disturb the speakers or audience.

Meetings are free for full members, and are $5 for on-line only subscribers and the general public.

Kids Outings
Looking for a fun activity to do with your kids? Join us for our monthly Kids Outing! We're excited to plan a variety of outings parents and kids can enjoy together. We hope our monthly activities will appeal to a range of ages, interests, and schedules. We'll focus on local activities for small groups of 20-40 kids, tapping into the wealth of resources we have in our very own neighborhoods. These events are fun for both adults and children, and are another great way to meet other club members.

In the past, we've visited a fire station, the Palo Alto Municipal Airport, worked out together at a gym class for moms and kids, and participated in a music class together. Most events are free for members, although a few have a small registration fee.

Kids Parties
Throughout the year the Children's Parties Team puts together special events (Moon Festival) and parties (Valentine's Day, Halloween...) for you to enjoy with your entire family. Our parties and events are fun for all ages but specifically targeted to toddlers and preschoolers age 2-5.

You must be a member to attend these events.

Mom's Night Out
Mom's Night Out is an opportunity for Mom's to get together without their kids to socialize (enjoy conversations that last longer than 30 seconds), relax (no one tugging on your shirt, arm or leg), and be pampered (and that's not referring to the diapers). Mom's night out occurs approximately once per month. We hope you can join us.

New Member Socials
New members of The Parents Club of Palo Alto and Menlo Park are invited to attend an informal monthly social where new members meet one another and learn how to make the most of their memberships. Meetings are typically held either on a Thursday evening at 6:30 pm or a Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm at the Prolific Oven in Palo Alto. Children are welcome to attend. Parents may also use this opportunity to "take a break" and come without kids. Veteran and board members are always welcome to join the fun. If you have recently joined the Club, check the calendar for our next Orientation and New Member Social.
